Note on Clinical Appropriateness

Advanced diagnostic tests (such as microbiome analysis) are not routine exams or services available upon simple request. Prescription is exclusively at the discretion of the ophthalmologist, following a thorough clinical examination, and only if specific medical indications exist.

A Layered Clinical Approach

Visits at our centers begin as rigorous and complete ophthalmological examinations. The systemic approach does not replace traditional ophthalmology, but complements it with the aim of investigating potential root causes of chronic disorders.

Our protocol involves diagnostic staging: starting from standard clinical practice and progressing, only when the medical condition specifically requires it, to advanced investigations of the microbiome and the patient's systemic status.
